Interaction
Conversation Sessions (English House)
These are 20-minute sessions led by Student Assistants (SAs) from various cultural backgrounds and faculties. You can effectively improve your English communication skills while casually enjoying English conversation. You can choose to participate in person or online when you make a reservation.
Individual Lessons (English House)
This is a 25-minute individual lesson with a full-time English teacher. The lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs; for example, some may need speaking practice for exams, writing correction, pronunciation practice, presentation practice for academic conferences, or study method advice. You can take lessons free of charge once every other week. Please indicate whether you wish to participate in person or online when you make a reservation.
Workshops (English House)
Workshops are offered to students who wish to practice English in addition to their classes. They are offered on a weekly basis or as a one-time event, so you can participate in whatever interests you. Workshops can be both on academic topics, such as preparation for study abroad or English examinations, and on more casual areas such as travel and cooking.
Language Exchange Programme (LEX) (English House)
On this programme, participants are paired up according to the languages they want to learn, and teach each other their own language for approximately one hour at least once a week. When applying for the program, participants need to provide enough information about themselves to be matched with the best possible partner. Participants can also learn a great deal about each other's culture, customs, and values and often become good friends. The program runs for 10 weeks in both semesters.
Lunch Chat (English House)
No reservation is required. Each day has a different topic, and the members gathered at that time are divided into small groups to practice not only English conversation but also other languages besides English with the help of SAs.

LTM-CALL is an English learning system developed by Chiba University and is available to all Chiba University students free of charge. The system offers a wide variety of levels and content, so you can study with the material that best suits you.

[Brief description] For students who are new to writing papers in English, this course provides advice through recordings of lectures and exercises.
Advanced Academic English and Writing Seminars (3 movies) / Step Up! Advanced Academic English and Writing Seminars (3 movies)
This site provides recordings of practical lectures and exercises (in-person or online seminars) given by lecturers with a wealth of experience in teaching academic writing for graduate students who will be writing papers in English and young researchers who are considering submitting their papers to international journals. All lectures are in English, but they are clear and easy to understand, so they can be used for repeated study or as listening materials for academic English.

This is a database of printed books published in England (or written and published in English) between 1473 and 1700.
It allows online browsing of classic books as they were at the time of publication.
The database contains approximately 130,000 publications from all fields of the period, and provides bibliographies and text in a variety of academic fields related to early modern Britain and Europe, including literature, politics, economics, and the scientific arts.

This is a database that allows users to browse and view a variety of electronic content, including foreign-language general-interest magazines, newspapers, encyclopaedias, and videos.
The Japan Times Digital / English-language newspaper
The Japan Times is an online database of the Japan Times, the oldest daily English-language newspaper in Japan.
The Japan Times provides daily news on politics, economics, culture, sports, and other topics, as well as analytical articles to decipher trends.
NIKKEI Asia / Nihon Keizai Shimbun in English
This is the English-language website of Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc., Nikkei Asia provides in-depth analysis of politics, economics, markets, corporate trends, science and technology, society and lifestyle, and consumption trends in Japan and other Asian countries and regions. In addition, the site offers a English translations of articles from the morning and evening editions of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun and corporate information on major Asian companies (Asia 300), providing a "now" view of Asia. In addition, daily updated columns and analytical articles by outside experts are also available.
Lexis / U.S. legal information and foreign newspaper articles
This is a database that allows you to search for reliable international law and news information. In addition to case law search, it contains legal information such as statutes, legislation, and administrative information in a centralized location.
It contains a comprehensive collection of useful information, including U.S. federal and state laws, precedents, public records, regulations, administrative information, commentaries, forms, law reviews, journals, and corporate and financial information.
You can also search for articles from international newspapers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Books for Extensive Reading at the Library
This is a series of English reading materials divided into about 5 to 6 levels according to difficulty and number of words per book.
You can choose from a variety of genres, including original books, rewritten English-language versions of classic British and American novels, and non-fiction books. Many have illustrations and photographs for easy reading and comprehension, and many have a glossary at the end of the book.
Books for ENGINE / Study Abroad Support Shelf Books for English Language Study (Library)
This section contains books for those who are thinking about studying abroad. There are 10 categories: Regional Guides, Study Abroad Planning, Languages, English Study, Introduction to Japan (English books available), Intercultural Exchange (English books available), Very Short Introductions, Future Planning, Asia and Japan, and "Basic Education" for Global Discussion.

LTM-CALL materials
The vocabulary materials vary in content and level, allowing you to study at the material that best suits your needs and level. The goal is to acquire vocabulary so that you can not only understand the Japanese translation of English words, but also use them appropriately when conversing.

This is a database that allows you to browse and view various electronic contents such as foreign language journals, newspapers, encyclopaedias, videos, etc.
EBSCOhost
This consists of e-journals, e-books and several specialized databases. You can search them all at once.
Web of Science
This is a database that can be used to find academic papers from overseas. The database contains information on articles from more than 18,000 carefully selected, highly influential academic journals from around the world. You can check the number of times each article has been cited, find related articles by citation information, check journal impact factors, and more.

The system allows users to search across e-books, e-journals, and specialized databases.

Simultaneous, interactive online consultation service providing individualized advice center on grammar checks. The service is available for students’ and faculty members’ abstracts, posters and slides for conference presentations, manuscripts for oral presentations, resumes, and so on.
