About 3 Step System
There are currently 20 different materials in the Listen to Me! series and all of these materials are designed based on the 3 Step System (Yukio Takefuta, 1997). It might be difficult to pick up even just the vocabulary at first, but we shouldn’t worry as the materials are designed to let us understand better as we proceed with the materials’ contents by following the given instructions. Let’s learn and try to clear the “goal for each step” as shown below.
Step 1
Roughly understand the topic and situation of the context you’ve listened to by using the hints from the “pictures shown” and from the “vocabulary that you’ve picked up”
Step 2
Fully and correctly understand the context you’ve listened to
Step 3
Grasp the background meaning for the words and the between-the-lines messages and summarize the conversation or story
